چکیده
Using phosphate fertilizers and wastewater as a source of irrigation residuals from industries have considerably increased the level cadmium (Cd) in soil which severely reduced growth yield crop. L-glutamic acid (L-Glu), an amino acid, plays key roles plant stress tolerance. Hence, current study was conducted to determine potential role L-Glu pre-treatment alleviating Cd-induced toxicity lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.). Lentil seedlings were exposed two doses Cd (1 2 mM CdCl2) with or without 10 pre-treatment. The results suggested that high dose negatively affected shoot dry weight, root photosynthetic pigments (chlorophylls carotenoids). Furthermore, induced severe oxidative damage, reduction catalase (CAT) activity ascorbate (AsA) content, accumulation both roots shoots. Adding protected thus improved seedlings. In addition, enhanced content; enzymes such catalase, peroxidase, monodehydroascorbate reductase, glutathione peroxidase. also uptake translocation, turn alleviated damage Cd-stressed indicated this chemical. Results suggest reduces by inhibiting reducing damage.

Indirect in vitro regeneration of lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.)
Establishment of an efficient and reproducible regeneration protocol is one of the basic prerequisites for genetic transformation of any crop plant. In vitro culture of lentil has proven to be difficult. In spite of a number of reports on the regeneration of this plant, very few satisfying and reproducible protocol has yet been reported. This study carried out for investigation of diff...

This study surveyed a rapid, efficient and reproducible protocol for in vitro shoot regeneration and rooting by different explants and different concentration of BAP. Due to optimization of shoot regeneration, two media including of MS and modified MS (MS salts with double concentration of CaC21, and B5 vitamins), different explants such as decapitated embryo axes, epicotyls and cotyledonary no...
متن کاملIdentification of High-Temperature Tolerant Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) Genotypes through Leaf and Pollen Traits
Rising temperatures are proving detrimental for various agricultural crops. Cool-season legumes such as lentil (Lens culunaris Medik.) are sensitive to even small increases in temperature during the reproductive stage, hence the need to explore the available germplasm for heat tolerance as well as its underlying mechanisms. In the present study, a set of 38 core lentil accessions were screened ...
متن کاملPre-breeding of lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) for herbicide resistance through seed mutagenesis
Lentil is a poor competitor of weeds and its sensitivity to herbicides is a major hurdle for large scale production. The present study was conducted to select herbicide resistant lentil genotypes through seed mutagenesis. Seeds of three advanced lentil genotypes (LPP 11001, LPP 11100 and LPP 11116) were treated with two different concentrations of ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS; 0.1 and 0.2%), hyd...

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.), being one of the first crops to be domesticated and cultivated by man, have been and continue to be an important food source for over 8000 years [1]. The high protein content of lentil has made them a nutritious substitute for meat. In fact, 100 grams of lentil has as much protein as 130 grams of meat in addition to beneficial dietary fiber [2]. The low phytate c...
